RANKIN EDITIONS is the London-based design studio of AMBER RANKIN (Fine Art, Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford). Known for her handknotted collector rugs and sculptural furniture pieces, she practices at the intersection of fine art, design and culture, exploring material identity and aesthetics of the everyday, focusing on form and materiality within contemporary decorative art and collectible design.
Each piece is handcrafted and made-to-order, collaborating with artisans and prestigious workshops across Europe, through combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. All rugs are exclusively handknotted in a small family-run workshop in Bulgaria by Europe's last remaining artisans practising traditional handknotting. All pieces are created on original wooden looms from locally-sourced wool, applying a traditional hand-knotting technique dating back hundreds years. With a distinguished heritage, the workshop and its 30 artisans have gained the support of high profile clients ranging from King Charles III to Mick Jagger.
RANKIN's collectible design objects and wearables are handcrafted by select craftsmen and Royal Warrant workshops in London.
